WhatsApp Testing in notification video playback on iOS

Whatsapp has recently made available the iOS Beta app to the public, and now the company is going to test new feature which will allow iPhone users to watch videos sent directly to the WhatsApp push notification panel. This means that users do not need to open an app to watch videos sent to them by an individual or group chat and they can watch the live video directly through the Notification panel. This comes after Apple announced the removal of all the Whatsapp sticker apps from the app store.

WABetaInfo has reports that Whatsapp is enhancing the ability of iOS Beta users to watch live video in push notifications. The tipster notes that the 2.18.102.5 version should be viewed by any of the iOS Beta users installed on this new feature. Details about how the feature will work on the Notifications panel have been shared, However the WhatsApps beta tracker claims that the stable app users on iOS will soon get the feature through app store updates. Android users still have no words on the beta or static rollout.

In September, WhatsApp updates with the feature extensions for iPhone updates, allowing users to see images and GIFs from the Notification panel. You will have to use 3D touch or left swipe on notifications when receiving images or GIFs and tap "View" to preview media from notification. In particular, this feature is available only on iOS 10 or higher iPhone models.

Now with the video playing a Notification feature in the beta, users can do more without opening the Whatsapp app.
